Democrats on the House Oversight and Judiciary committees say their Republican counterparts have cherry-picked from Justice Department documents to promote a misleading narrative about the closed-door questioning of a senior Justice Department official this week, according to a letter released Friday.
They're asking that Oversight Chairman Trey Gowdy of SC and Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte schedule a bipartisan meeting with the Justice Department to discuss the sensitivity of the documents, which they say contain details about a confidential human source. He has also singled out Bruce Ohr, saying he was a "disgrace" and that he would revoke his security clearance. They met in the mid-2000s, people who know Ohr said, as both fought against the evolving threat of Russian organized crime for their respective countries.
At the same time, Ohr's wife Nellie Ohr was working for Fusion GPS, the research company hired by the Clinton campaign to conduct opposition research.
Zarif meets Pakistan PM Imran Khan in Islamabad
The need to fight terrorists would be "the primary part" of their discussions, he was quoted as saying by Dawn newspaper. Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif concluded a two-day official visit to Islamabad on Friday.
Among the things Ohr said he learned from Steele during their sit-down was that an unnamed ex-Russian intelligence official had said that Russian intelligence believed "they had Trump over a barrel", sources familiar with the meeting told the news service.
Little is known publicly about the extent of the relationship between Bruce Ohr and Steele, but some House Republicans who are vocal critics of the Russian Federation investigation have seized on it as proof of an untoward connection between government officials and the roots of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.
Two sources familiar with the dossier told Reuters on condition of anonymity that Ohr had no role in its compilation. Steele conducted Democratic-funded research into Trump's ties to Russian Federation during the campaign. McQuade says, previously, career Justice Department people found Trump's criticisms of Ohr to be bewildering. But the investigation was opened because of conversations involving former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos, and not the dossier, FBI and congressional officials have said.

Vettel then fought back through the field from 18th to fourth, ending the day 30 points behind Hamilton with seven races remaining.
Republicans have charged that the Steele dossier, which contains some salacious and unverified intelligence on Trump and Russian Federation, was inappropriately used by the Federal Bureau of Investigation to obtain a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant on former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. Ohr's relationship with his wife and his interactions with Steele tie him loosely to the Russian Federation investigation.
In the interview, Ohr acknowledged that he had not told superiors in his office, including Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, about his meetings with Steele because he considered the information inflammatory raw source material.
"And if Jeff Sessions won't, he should step down and let someone do it".
