Twitter said on Thursday it had "permanently suspended" conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and his website, Infowars, for sharing a series of tweets and videos, including verbal attacks on a reporter that Jones live-streamed outside of a congressional hearing the day before.
Before being banned, Jones's Twitter page had accumulated almost 900,000 followers, while the Infowars page had accrued around 430,000.
Before that hearing, Jones spotted a reporter waiting in the hall outside the meeting room, and Jones proceeded to berate the journalist, who has covered Jones' website and his suspensions from social media.
Infowars and Jones' accounts were also banned from Periscope, which is owned by Twitter.
Sessions’ job is safe until at least November elections — Trump to Bloomberg
Asked in the Bloomberg News interview whether he would comply if Mueller issued a subpoena for him to appear for questioning, Trump said, "I'll see what happens".
We will continue to evaluate reports we receive regarding other accounts potentially associated with @realalexjones or @infowars and will take action if content that violates our Rules is reported or if other accounts are utilized in an attempt to circumvent their ban.
Jones repeatedly interrupted Rubio as the senator answered questions from reporters. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey testified at both hearings, but did not appear to witness the confrontation. Some of the parents of the victims have sued Jones for mental and emotional distress. After Jones tapped Rubio on the shoulder, the senator warned, "Hey, don't touch me again, man". Jones is quoted as saying Darcy had "the eyes of a rat", and accused CNN of wishing to police the Internet.
Twitter initially took a more tepid stance on taking action against Jones.
Darcy has aggressively questioned social media companies about the forbearance they showed Jones, asking why they have allowed him to remain on their platforms for as long as they have.

Alex Jones is a controversial radio and podcast host based in Austin, Texas.
This comes after a long period of time in which professionals and social media users alike criticized Dorsey for his inaction against Jones.
He now admits the shooting occurred but says his claims were free speech.
While he began broadcasting his shows in 1999, Jones' profile has spread from the far-right fringe in recent years.
Guardiola promises more from City as Liverpool, Chelsea set pace
Sane was named PFA Young Player of the Year last season as City stormed to the Premier League title with a 100-point haul. He has done it in training a few times, to be fair, and got in some great positions.
