Tropical Storm Gordon has weakened to a tropical depression after it made landfall near the Alabama-Mississippi border Tuesday night, resulting in one death and loss of power to almost 40,000 homes along the Gulf Coast.
Michel says the main focus today will be getting power restored and watching Gordon as it moves north, where it could bring rough weather to the rest of the state.
"The preparation, coordination and cooperation by citizens during this storm greatly minimized the impact across our state", Gov. Kay Ivey of Alabama said Wednesday, sounding much like Gov. Phil Bryant of MS, who said that his state's coast was "relatively unscathed".
