The last "green-on-blue" attack occurred in August 2017 when a Romanian NATO soldier was killed.
The NATO-led coalition in Afghanistan, Resolute Support, said Saturday that the incident was under investigation and that the two wounded U.S. service members are being treated and are in stable condition.
It was not immediately clear what became of the shooter.
