Given his star power it's expected that most National Basketball Association free agent business will be held up by James' forthcoming decision with the most likely suitors being the Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers and Cavaliers. James has not publicly commented on what team he will sign with as his family and close advisers consider offers at his "decision cave" in the Caribbean.
The Lakers are considered an early favorite to land James because they have created enough cap space to sign him and another young player, like Oklahoma City's Paul George, to a max contract. He has opted out and resigned with Cleveland before, and the Cavaliers can pay him more than any other team.
The chance to join one of the league's most iconic franchises has an appeal to James and he said following this year's Finals that he remains in "championship mode". ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reported this week that James would not be seeking elaborate pitch meetings during the free-agency process. The Cavs, however, will likely keep at least one roster spot open so they can guarantee Kendrick Perkins' $2.5 million contract, in the event they find a trade partner that will require Perkins' salary to be added to the deal to make the math work.

The Lakers are also looking at trading for Kawhi Leonard, which could sway James.
This is interesting, especially considering James has no meeting scheduled with the Cavs at the moment. Other big names include Paul George, DeMarcus Cousins, and Chris Paul.
He would be eligible to sign a five-year, $205 million free-agent deal with Cleveland this summer.

The NBA free agent period begins Sunday.
The option was part of a two-year, $21 million deal signed last July.
Love, who averaged 17.3 points and 9.3 rebounds in an All-Star campaign last season, could be the focal point on offense for a team that as of now feels it has no real incentive to start a rebuild right away.
Per the Times, the Mavericks did not want to surrender draft compensation in a trade, preferring to pursue Jordan via free agency.
