Arkady Babchenko, a Russian journalist who had recently been reported dead in Kiev, showed up at a press conference Wednesday to reveal that he is actually very much alive.

In an extraordinary development, Arkady Babchenko appeared at a news conference in the Ukrainian capital saying that he had agreed to take part in the operation to catch people who had been sent to kill him, and apologized to his wife for deceiving her.

The survival skills of Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko are nothing short of unbelievable.

Before ushering Mr Babchenko into the room, Mr Gritsak said investigators had identified a Ukrainian citizen who was allegedly paid 40,000 dollars (£30,000) by Russian security services to organise and carry out the hit.

Babchenko was critical of Russia's annexation of Crimea and its operations in Syria, and was forced to flee Russian Federation in February 2017 because of threats to him and his family. "Babchenko's memoirs of the Chechen campaigns were published in English under the title 'One Soldier's War'".

Facebook to remove 'trending' news stories section following years of controversy
The company continued to modify the section , but Facebook said that over time it became less useful to users. On Friday, Facebook minimized Trending Topics' impact in a blog post announcing the change.

Babchenko, 41, served in the Russian army during the two wars in Chechnya in the 1990s, and hosts a news program on Ukraine's ATR channel. "The killers attacked all of us by choosing the most honest, noisy, and courageous one, the one who is in the public eye", Kanygin said in a Facebook post.

Some of his articles and posts outraged many Russians.

He faced backlash after commenting on the crash of a Russian plane transporting the world-famous military choir Alexandrov Ensemble en route to Syria.

We will remind that the journalist Arkady Babchenko was killed in Kiev on may 29 at the entrance to his home with three bullets in the back.

"I was lucky, it was my second birthday", he wrote Tuesday.

Russian journalist Babchenko alive, murder stage managed
The person recruited for the killing and the mastermind of the plot have both been arrested, the Security Service said. Mr Babchenko's "killing" was the fourth of a Kremlin critic in the Ukrainian capital in two years.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman implied Russian Federation had orchestrated the killing.

Several Russian journalists and other dissidents have been killed in recent years in Kiev. "That's why his murder is openly provocative".

Russia's Investigative Committee said in an online statement late on Tuesday that it had launched a murder investigation into Babchenko's death. Violent crimes and total impunity have become routine for the Kiev regime.

Britain's foreign minister Boris Johnson said on Wednesday he was appalled by the murder of "another vocal Russian journalist" and it was vital that those responsible were brought to justice.

Ukraine will provide protection to the Russian journalist who was the target of an assassination plot by the Russian security services, President Petro Poroshenko said on Wednesday. Prominent journalist Pavel Sheremet was killed in Kiev on July 20, 2016, when an explosive device detonated under the vehicle he was driving.
