Iran and China have agreed to cooperate to maintain the Iranian nuclear deal.

Mohammad Javad Zarif met the EU's foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini ahead of talks with counterparts from Britain, France and Germany - the three European signatories to the landmark deal who are scrabbling to preserve it.

Washington's decision to withdraw from the agreement and reimpose sanctions infuriated its allies in Europe as well as China and Russian Federation.

Earlier on Sunday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Iran would remain committed to the deal "if the remaining five countries abide by the agreement".

"Together, we emphasise our continuing commitment to the JCPOA".

Russian President Vladimir Putin has already spoken with Germany's Angela Merkel and Turkey's Recep Tayyip Erdogan about the efforts, after voicing his "deep concern" over US President's Donald Trump's decision.

Salah, who was named EPL Player of the Season earlier on Sunday, netted the goal 26 minutes into the match, and Dejan Lovren added a second goal 14 minutes later.

Mr Zarif said on his first stop, China, that he hoped to secure a "clear future design" for the agreement.

"Our trade with New Zealand is the importing dairy products from NZ, if they want to impose sanctions then they must ban the companies from exporting the commodities to Iran".

French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said earlier that Europe should not accept that the U.S.is the "world's economic policeman", or become the USA "vassals" that "obey decisions taken by the United States while clinging to the hem of their pants;" Rather, Le Maire asked, "or do we want to say we have our economic interests, we consider we will continue to do trade with Iran?"

A number of European companies, including Airbus, Siemens and Total, had established operations in Iran since the signing of the deal.

The Trump administration portrayed its rejection of the nuclear agreement as a response, in part, to Tehran's interventions in the Middle East, underpinning Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's tough line towards Iran.

Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates said while the Iran deal was "a flawed agreement" because of a lack of unfettered inspections and other problems, leaving the deal isolates the United States and Trump should have extended it for at least another six months to work with allies.

Before leaving Iran, Zarif published a government statement via Twitter criticising Trump's "extremist administration" for abandoning "an accord recognised as a victory of diplomacy by the global community".

"But it really is a question mark as to what Europe can do for them in the face of ..."

But while he talked up the prospect of renewed coordination with America's allies, another top aide reminded Europe its companies could face sanctions if they continue to do business with the Middle Eastern power.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has called the United States withdrawal "impudent" and "worthless".

"It depends on the conduct of other governments".
