Greg Abbott (R-Texas) said Monday that there is a "mathematical need" to deploy thousands of National Guard troops to secure the southern border and stymie the flow of illegal immigrants into the country. That's why the state and the Guard have long supported this important work and agreed to similar targeted assistance in 2006 under President Bush and in 2010 under President Obama.
