England's Matt Wallace carded a four-under 68 to win the Indian Open golf on Sunday (Mar 11) after local favourite Shubhankar Sharma floundered in the final round to squander his joint overnight lead.
Matt Wallace saved his best golf for the final hole of the Hero Indian Open to earn his second European Tour victory.
"I'm just looking forward to playing out there again", he said after an even par 72. I pumped it down there on the last and it went a long way, and then a four-iron went even farther than I thought it would, so I was jacked up a bit. I know it's going to be a battle out there tomorrow and I'll be ready for it. It has been very satisfying week because it is definitely the toughest golf course that I have played in my career.
It was soon tied at the top when Wallace thinned his third shot from the edge of the green into a back bunker at the 16th for his first dropped shot of the day and did well to make a bogey five.

Bayern Munich also won a Monday cup match against German minnows BSV Schwarz-Weiss Rehden during Guardiola's tenure. Guardiola will continue to wear the ribbon for pre- and post-match media commitments, as is permitted.
Wallace really attacked the pin in the 18th hole during play-off as his second approach shot sailed over the water hazard and landed on the green and he sealed the contest with a birdie. Ever since being three over through eight at the start of the week, I've played some of the best golf of my life and to do it in that style at the end there capped it off.
"There are some great champions". Johnston was the only one to play the back nine bogey-free as he carded the low round of the day, a 66, to force the playoff. I will hit a few bad shots and I understand that it's all part of the game. To hit two shots like that is exactly why I play the game.
"I asked on 15 what the score was".
Last week, the 21-year-old, who won the Joburg Open and Maybank Championship, had led on the second and third day at the World Golf Championship-Mexico before finishing a creditable tied ninth.

Brussels immediately asked for an exemption and threatened countermeasures on US-made goods if rejected. European Commission Vice President Jyrki Katainen said it would be "a meeting, not THE meeting".
"I hit some really good shots in that playoff. Regardless of the result I'm quite happy that after being five-over through the first nine holes of the tournament I managed to finish with a four-under total", he added.
Despite his lacklustre show, Sharma continues to lead the European Tour Race to Dubai and the Asian Order of Merit.
Co-leader Wallace, whose second straight 70 included and eagle at the par-4 9th, is expecting another hard day Sunday but relishes the challenge.
"It was a disappointing day for me", he said later. "Hopefully, it can be the start of a few things coming up".
