The Roseanne Barr comedy, returning to ABC two decades after it ended its first run, averaged 18.2 million viewers, more than doubling its competitors in young-adult ratings for Tuesday's hourlong premiere, according to Nielsen. Will & Grace's return previous year earned a 3.0 rating and 10.2 million viewers, and added another five million or so in delayed viewing, while The X-Files' first return in 2016 netted a 6.1 rating and 16.2 million viewers and ended up at 21.5 million viewers after delayed viewing.

United States exempts S.Korea from steel import tariffs
In exchange it will be exempted from the United States steel tariffs, trade minister Kim Hyon-chong told reporters. South Korea was among several USA allies initially excluded from the tariffs when they took effect Friday.
Roseanne's premiere ratings are as big, bold and brassy as the series and its star.
In fact, last night's overall audience tally was actually 10 percent better than the 16.6 million viewers the original 1997 series finale hauled in. It opened with TV's highest adult 18-49 rating for any comedy telecast on any night in more than three years - since CBS' "The Big Bang Theory" season opener on September 22, 2014.
