In the short time the Explore Feed has been widely available, Facebook concluded it was not doing its intended job. This itself was spurred by feedback from users who wanted to see more updates from friends and family and less from brands.
In January, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook would soon start showing more news stories from local news publishers and friends in an attempt to drown out public posts engineered to stir up unrest.
Adam Mosseri, head of Facebook's News Feed, said in a blog post that surveys in response to the trial revealed people were less satisfied with the posts they were seeing and that having two separate feeds did not help them connect more with friends and family.
President Trump Pushes For Bipartisan Gun Legislation
In 2013, the NRA said the Toomey-Manchin bill would "not prevent the next shooting" and would not "solve violent crime". McConnell has not spoken about the issue since Trump's free-flowing, televised White House meeting with lawmakers.
Several months later, Facebook has realized what we probably could have told it from the offset: "People don't want two separate feeds".
Facebook will be discontinuing the explore feed globally this week.

The test began in October and took place in Bolivia, Cambodia, Guatemala, Serbia, Slovakia and Sri Lanka.
Pakistan's ruling party picks ousted PM's brother Shahbaz Sharif as president
The party will also hold another meeting on March 6 for intraparty elections to elect Shahbaz Sharif as the permanent president. The court said a person who is disqualified under the Constitution is not eligible to keep any position in a political party.
The version of the feed that was visible to users worldwide, in a separate tab, showed users what Facebook's algorithm thought they'd be interested in discovering, content from Pages they didn't already follow. Although people want to see less posts from Pages, the idea of completely separating Pages and individuals has proved to be a step too far.
Lifestyle site Little Things claimed it had to close after losing 75% of its organic page views - similar to the drop reported by Slovakian journalist Filip Struhárik after Explore Feed was implemented in the country.
On Thursday, Mosseri said those recent changes will address the needs of users more than the Explore Feed test.
The product formally launched last October as an option for U.S. users to find additional news and entertainment from Pages that aren't in a users' news feed.
