An Iranian nuclear energy official on Monday warned that his country is able to create highly enriched uranium in "less than 48 hours", should the United States drop out of the 2015 nuclear agreement.
President Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened to withdraw the United States from the landmark 2015 agreement, and previous year refused to confirm to Congress that it is in America's national security interest.
Iran honors its commitment to the treaty to limit its nuclear development plan as the International Atomic Energy Agency has certified on nine occasions.
IAEA director general Yukiya Amano said on Monday that losing the nuclear deal "would be a great loss for nuclear verification and for multilateralism".
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has said the European Union is capable of playing a constructive role in order to protect the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) aka nuclear deal.

While French leaders, including President Emmanuel Macron, have criticised Iran's missile programme, French companies like oil giant Total SA have bullishly entered the Iranian market after the atomic accord, complicating any possible sanctions.
"The United States and other countries that have turned our region into a gunpowder depot by selling arms must stop such actions", Zarif said, according to a report by the semi-official ISNA news agency. They also slammed Le Drian's remarks about negotiating the agreement and called for him to officially apologize.
