A man in his 20s crashed his auto through the emergency room entrance at Middlesex Hospital Thursday morning and apparently set himself on fire, Mayor Daniel Drew said.

The front of the auto burst into flames and the driver set himself on fire before he got out of the vehicle, police said. "We trust this is a detached occurrence and nobody else was harmed".

"We do not know what this individual's motives are and we will not speculate as to his motives", Drew said.

Middletown Police Chief McKenna says that the man is known to Middletown Police and has been in the system multiple times but did not say what for.

The crisis room and adjacent structures were emptied as a safeguard was the inquiry proceeds with, Drew said.

"Patients who visit the hospital's temporary emergency department space should drive to the main entrance of the hospital", said Falcone.

Middlesex Hospital issued an alert on its website February 23 indicating the ER will remain closed and all nonemergency surgeries scheduled for February 23 will be canceled.

On the morning of Thursday, February 22, in the American city of Middletown, in CT, the man in the auto drove into the hospital premises and staged a self-immolation.

"We evacuated patients from our [emergency department] to other portions of our hospital where they will be attended to", Giuffrida said.

Bouchard was also still able to drum up endorsement money, in large part due to her aggressive social media presence, he said. Bouchard, then 21, slipped and fell in the changing rooms after a mixed doubles clash at Flushing Meadows in New York City.

Police, who have not yet identified the man, say he is in his 20s.

Drew said authorities believe the crash was an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the community.

The hospital announced that as of 4 p.m., Friday, they would once again be providing emergency care, but only to walk-in patients. However, their Westbrook and Marlborough facilities remain open.

Fortunately, none of the medical staff and patients has not suffered.
