With RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav sentenced to three-and-a-half years in jail and fined Rs 10 lakh by a special CBI court in a fodder scam case, the Bihar Congress on Saturday asserted that Lalu's conviction will not have impact on the party's ties with the RJD in the state. The sentencing was heard via video conference.
Lalu's son Tejaswwi Yadav, who alleged political vendetta behind the case, stated that his father was not afraid of the verdict.
In the fodder scam case, out of 22 accused, 16 were convicted. In addition, he has also been slapped Rs 5 lakh fine by the Ranchi court.
"Come what may Lalu will never get scared, nor will he even kneel down".

Lalu Yadav on Friday had filed a plea seeking minimum punishment for himself citing his poor health condition.
Lalu Prasad is at present cooling his heels in Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi.
The special judge also sent 15 other convicts in the case to prison for terms varying between three and six months and seven years under sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA).

The court had, however, acquitted six others including former Bihar chief minister Jagannath Mishra in the case.
According to legal experts, Lalu would have been able to apply for bail immediately at the lower court itself if the quantum of sentence was less than three years. The case pertained to fraudulent withdrawal of ₹84.5 lakh from the Deoghar district (now in Jharkhand) treasury during the period 1991-94.
